Safety Gear that meets the mark
At Tiki Tour Motorcycles, we know that nothing beats the thrill of hitting the open road on a motorbike, wind in your hair (under the helmet, of course), and the stunning landscapes of New Zealand unfolding before you. But with great adventure comes great responsibility, and that’s why we’re committed to providing the highest standard of safety gear for your journeys.
Helmets: Your First Line of Defense
When it comes to helmets, we don’t mess around. Our helmets are ECE R22-06 (or, in the case of one of our Small Shoei NXR, ECE R22-05) certified, which means they meet stringent safety standards to protect your noggin. But what do those numbers actually mean? The Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) sets some of the most rigorous testing standards for motorcycle helmets. The ECE R22-06 is the latest standard, improving upon the R22-05 with even more stringent requirements for impact resistance, shell rigidity, and visor safety. This ensures that in the event of a fall, the helmet will absorb the maximum amount of impact, reducing the risk of head injury. Whether you're cruising through the scenic South Island or tackling twisty mountain roads, you can ride with peace of mind knowing your head is well-protected.
Gloves: Hand Protection with High-Tech Features
Our touring gloves are another crucial piece of gear. Featuring Kevlar abrasion pads, they offer top-notch protection against scrapes and impacts. Kevlar is a synthetic fiber known for its incredible strength and durability, often used in bulletproof vests and other high-performance safety equipment. In our gloves, Kevlar helps to shield your hands from abrasions and injuries in case of a fall. So, if you ever take an unexpected detour and end up in a bit of a spill, your hands will be in good shape to grip the handlebars again. Plus, our gloves are designed to be comfortable and flexible, so you can maintain full control of your bike while enjoying the ride.
Our gear is comfortable too!
The office assistant insisted on verifying that whilst being safe our gear is also comfortable enough to sleep in!
Jackets: Armor for the Road
We’ve also got your back (and your shoulders and elbows) covered with our jackets. Each jacket is equipped with C.E EN1621-1 protection for the shoulders and elbows and C.E. EN1621-2 protection for the back. These certifications come from the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), which sets rigorous standards for motorcycle protective gear. The EN1621-1 certification ensures that the armor in the shoulders and elbows can withstand significant impact forces, providing crucial protection in these vulnerable areas. The EN1621-2 standard for back protection means that the jacket includes a spine protector capable of absorbing and dissipating impact energy, reducing the risk of spinal injuries. This means you're well-armoured against the bumps and bruises of the road, without sacrificing comfort or style.
Safety Meets Adventure
At Tiki Tour Motorcycles, we believe in combining safety with the spirit of adventure. Our commitment to high-quality safety gear is part of what makes us stand out, and we’re proud to offer equipment that meets international safety standards. We want you to explore New Zealand’s beauty with confidence, knowing you’re equipped with gear that’s up to the task. Our helmets, gloves, and jackets are designed to offer the best protection possible while allowing you to fully enjoy the thrill of the ride.
In addition to buying the right gear, we maintain it to a high standard too. This means inspections after every rental for fatigue, wear and any signs of damage and replacement, if required.
Experience New Zealand Safely
After all, our country’s landscapes are worth the journey – and so are you. From the rugged coastlines to the majestic mountains, New Zealand offers some of the most breathtaking rides in the world. We’re here to make sure you can experience them safely, with gear that’s as reliable as it is comfortable. So next time you’re gearing up for a Tiki Tour, remember that our safety gear has got your back, your head, and your hands covered. Happy riding, and stay safe out there!
Please note: As with all safety standards, they are constantly improving. At the time of writing, the above statements are all true, however we aim to maintain the highest standards possible and, therefore the above may be exceeded in the future, for example a change of gloves to an even higher quality standard.
